At Helworth Bridge in the early 1960s, the hames-Clyde Express crosses the Upper Ribblesdale en route from Settle to Carlisle. The convoy was driven by the Royal Scot class 46113 Cameronian. Stephen Warnes was born and raised in northeast Lancashire. He completed his first painting at the age of six and has never stopped since. His passion for railways developed between the ages of eight and fifteen.

Stephen Warnes was elected a full member of the Guild of Railway artists in 1994 and has exhibited nationally in the GRA Railart exhibitions.
