John Shewey is a freelance writer and author, with articles appearing in most of the fly fishing periodicals and other outdoor magazines. He frequents the speaking circuit, presenting slide shows and tying demonstrations at clubs, conclaves and sport shows. His first book was Northwest Fly Fishing Trout & Beyond, published by Frank Amato Publications, in 1992.

John Shewey resides in Bend, Oregon and fishes extensively throughout the West. He grew up in southeast Idaho, spending his formative years living a stone's throw from the famed Henry's Fork. He holds a B.S. in Journalism (with an emphasis in public relations) from the University of Oregon.
